So many of us have witnessed a loved one decline as a result of Alzheimer’s disease or Parkinson’s disease. These common neurological conditions leave our loved ones fearful of aging. Meanwhile, courageous family members try to hold it all together and keep them comfortable as the diseases progress — but there is trauma for all involved. Fortunately, emerging science is revealing the role of nutrition in preserving cognitive health and preventing top neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.

The providers were intrigued, not only for their patients’ wellness but for their own health!
We’re empowering mothers in central New Jersey! Last week, PPMNY Food for Life Instructor Karina Pearse kicked off a new series focused on maternal health at the Harvest Family Success Center in Flemington. Karina taught mothers how to incorporate fiber-rich, heart-healthy flaxseed into recipes, along with a cooking demo of a flavorful whole-wheat pasta with tomatoes and kale. And for dessert: a banana-sweetened brownie with whole plant ingredients. A special thank you to the Allen Foundation for sponsoring this program!
